About Me

My name is Joe Gohring and I consider myself to be the “average Joe”. I’m a house painter by trade,  a veteran, and really just a man trying to live out our faith in a very broken world.  In 2014 I went to Confession for the first time in over 20 years and had a life changing experience. In the following six months many other miracles occurred that would lead me to having a powerful conversion to the Catholic faith. In that first six months I read the Diary of Saint Faustina (twice), did the consecration to Jesus through Mary, shut down my small business, sold everything I owned and became a full time missionary. I spent the next 4 years living in community as a missionary, walking the streets of New York City  and Boston befriending the homeless, and travelling throughout the United States helping with evangelization events.

My Unique Formation

During this time I was formed in a spirituality that focused on Saint Pope John Paul II, Saint Faustina, Saint Therese of Lisieux, Saint Mother Teresa, and Saint Maximillian Kolbe. For the first four years of actively living the Catholic faith these great Saints were the main source of my formation. They were all I read about and I tried to copy them as did the other missionaries.  In doing so I began to see God in a manner similar to how they saw God, as Jesus the Divine Mercy.  I didn’t fully understand at this time how great of a blessing it was to have this type of formation and to see God in this way.

I Noticed A Problem

After I departed the missionary group I went out into the “real world” and was no longer sheltered within this amazing missionary community. I continued to minister to the homeless and encounter many Catholics at different churches around the country. I have moved quite a bit and have lived in 9 different places in the last 6 years! During my travels and encounters with other Catholics I came to realize two things:

       1. Not everyone had the opportunity to be formed in the way that I had been formed.

                      and because of this

        2.  Not everyone saw Jesus as the Divine Mercy in the way that these five great Saints did.

In my heart I knew it hurt Jesus that not everyone believed in His Goodness and How great His Love is for them. He had been so unbelievably Good to me, shared so much of His Love and Mercy with me, and I know He wants to do that for everyone!  So I prayed a lot and asked God what He wanted me to do…

A Small Solution

After much prayer, I believe the Lord answered me in a very powerful way. I felt it in my heart that He wanted me to share my testimony and that He wanted me to “Speak About His Image” especially through the testimony of these Saints. This is how Walk with Mercy Ministries first began, and a few short talks have now blossomed into two separate 3-night  parish mission talks.

I know things are pretty difficult in the world right now, and we need all the hope and help we can get, so I have decided to put all 6 talks online for you to watch for free.

My Hope

  • That these talks will help you come to an even greater love for Jesus and help you to see Him as He truly is,  Jesus the Divine Mercy.
  • That you will be inspired to entrust your life even more into the hands of Mary so that through her intercession you will come to know God’s great love for you.
  • That you will  “Walk with Mercy” like these great Saints did, be set on fire with God’s Love,  and one day become a saint too.
